Ada Ferrer winner of the 2022 Pulitzer Prize in History
We're delighted to see Cuba: An American History by Ada Ferrer (Scribner) endowed with this year's Pulitzer Prize in History!
Cuba: An American History (previously awarded with the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in History) is an original and compelling history, spanning five centuries, of the island that became an obsession for many presidents and policy makers, transforming how we think about the U.S. in Latin America, and Cuba in American society. Filled with rousing stories and characters, and drawing on more than thirty years of research in Cuba, Spain, and the United States—as well as the author’s own extensive travel to the island over the same period—this is a stunning and monumental account like no other.
Ada Ferrer is Julius Silver Professor of History and Latin American and Caribbean Studies at New York University, where she has taught since 1995. Born in Cuba and raised in the United States, she has been traveling to and conducting research on the island since 1990.
