International Booker Prize 2023 - Longlist
This year's International Booker Prize longlist has just been announced and we're happy to see three B&G authors among the thirteen nominees!
Clemens Meyer for Als wir träumten (S. Fischer Verlag; While We Were Dreaming, Fitzcarraldo), "an extraordinary debut novel from one of Germany’s most ambitious writers, full of passion, hope and despair". The Italian edition was published in 2016 by Keller Editore under the title "Eravamo dei grandissimi" (translation by Roberta Gado and Riccardo Cravero).
Andrei Kurkov is nominated for Jimi Hendrix Live In Lemberg (Diogenes Verlag; Jimi Hendrix Live in Lviv, MacLehose Press), "an affectionate portrait of one of the world’s most intriguing cities", also published by Keller (translation by Rosa Mauro).
Cheon Myeong-kwan convinced the jury with Whale (Asia Literary; Europa Editions), "which sheds new light on the changes Korea experienced in its rapid transition from pre-modern to post-modern society. Italian rights are sold to edizioni e/o.
The shortlist will be announced on April 18.
