Barbara Kingsolver Wins the Women's Prize for Fiction 2023
We are happy to congratulate Barbara Kingsolver on winning the Women's Prize for Fiction 2023!
Her latest book Demon Copperhead had also won the Pulitzer Prize 2023.
Published in the USA by Harper Collins and in the UK by Faber & Faber, Demon Cooperhead has been acquired in Italy by Neri Pozza. We represent the title on behalf of The Frances Goldin Literary Agency.
Barbara Kingsolver has made history becoming the only two-time winner of the famous Prize, after the success of The Lacuna in 2009.
A modern retelling of David Copperfield, Demon Copperhead has been praised by the Jury as follows:
"Barbara Kingsolver has written a towering, deeply powerful and significant book. [...] Brilliant and visceral, it is storytelling by an author at the top of her game. We were all deeply moved by Demon, his gentle optimism, resilience and determination despite everything being set against him.
An exposé of modern America, its opioid crisis and the detrimental treatment of deprived and maligned communities, Demon Copperhead tackles universal themes – from addiction and poverty, to family, love, and the power of friendship and art – it packs a triumphant emotional punch, and is a novel that will withstand the test of time."
