European Union Prize for Literature 2024
The 13 titles shortlisted for the 2024 EU Prize for Literature have been announced. Among them are two authors represented by our agency: Deniz Utlu and Sholeh Rezazadeh.
The prize, adressed to emerging talents, promotes the circulation of literature within Europe and beyond national borders and aims at highlighting the creativity and richness of contemporary European literature.
We are happy present our candidates, whose rights in Italy are available to date.
VATERS MEER by Deniz Utlu (Suhrkamp, August 2023) is the touching story of a thirteen-year-old boy who has just arrived in Germany from Turkey. Suddenly, he has to face his father's paralysis, the absence of a too busy mother and the hostile integration into a new culture.
THERE IS A MOUNTAIN WAITING FOR ME by Sholeh Rezazadeh (Ambo Anthos, September 2023) tells the extraordinary and unforgettable story of forty-year-old Alma from the point of view of the Iranian river Aras. One day the woman decides to leave her stressful job in the Netherlands to travel alone to Iran and join nomadic people. Will she be able to leave her hectic life behind?
The winner and the five special mentions will be announced on 4th April at the Brussels Book Fair.
