Uwe-Johnson-Preis 2020 to Irina Liebmann
Russian-born author Irina Liebmann has been awarded with the Uwe Johnsonn Prize worth € 20.000 during a ceremony (October 9th).
In her novel Die Grosse Hamburger Strasse that we represent in Italy for our new client Schöffling, the author wonders what happened to the inhabitants of the Hamburger Straße, a small street in the Mitte district of Berlin. Most of them were Jews and were deported in 1942.
Irina Liebmann wonders what would it be like to travel back in time, wandering into the street’s past yet knowing what one knows today.
Die Grosse Hamburger Strasse is a mysterious, atmospheric book full of love and farewells, about the vitality of the past and the transience of the present.
