Tanti auguri a Jürgen Habermas!
As one of the most prominent followers of the Frankfurt School he is one of the most important contemporary philosophers in the world. He addresses subjects like philosophy, history, psychology, German literature and economics, has taught at several universities, including Heidelberg, Frankfurt am Main and the University of California in Berkeley and was the director of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of the Scientific-Technical World for many years. In 1973, his work Knowledge and Human Interests was published as the first volume of the suhrkamp taschenbuch wissenschaft series, which has been combining classics of theory with innovative publications of various scientific disciplines ever since.
Habermas has received numerous awards and prizes for his scientific works and treatises, including the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade in 2001. This year, Habermas submits a major two-volume monography: In This Too a History of Philosophy, he traces the gradual secularisation of philosophy as well as contemporary transformations within science, law, politics and society. We will start sending the galleys to his publishers soon.
Habermas global, edited by Luca Corchia, Stefan Müller-Doohm and William Outhwaite, a work dedicated to the international reception history of the prominent philosopher that provides the reader with extensive insights into his oeuvre is also going to be published this autumn. In his book The Young Habermas, Roman Yos explores the exciting emergence of Habermas’ thought while providing insight into the temporal and historical background.
